You're too important for anyone There's something wrong with everything you see But I, I know who you really are You're the one who cries when you're alone. Evanescence Where Will You Go (EP Version) Lyrics My 5 year-old, A, measured out 1/4 cup of borax per cup of boiling water and mixed the solution until the borax dissolved.Ī has done a lot of cooking so I was confident in her mixing and pouring hot water safely, but obviously please use caution when letting your child work with hot, hot water. We ended up making a dozen Halloween shapes and needed a ton of borax solution. If they do touch, the shapes will grow attached to the jar and could break a bit when you take them out. I placed each shape into a glass jar and made sure it didn’t touch any of the sides or the bottom. (Even though the fishing line is a little tricky to tie, crystals won’t grow on it but they will on twine.) I tied each spooky creation to a wooden skewer using fishing line. When a density map is built, every photo gets its normalized color value. Thus, every photo gets a weight based on the proximity of other photos around. For every photo in a cluster, the cumulative sum of the influences of the other photos is calculated using the Gaussian. We propose to use the notion of influence func- tion introduced in. A drawback is that the informa- tion about the locations of the individual photos is lost. A frequently used approach to visualizing densities on a map is color coding of the counts of points inside areas, as in and in Figure 1 (back- ground shading). (2) The resulting clusters are not restricted to a specific shape or size and properly reflect the natural distribution of the data. The benefits are the following: (1) regions with density below some threshold are counted as noise and wont be reflected in visualization. We propose to use density-based clustering algorithms (DBCA). Appropriate clustering methods are needed to find the natural areas of high concentration without imposing any artificial division of the territory. Therefore, the resulting map may inaccurately show the places of concentration. A disadvantage of the grid- based approach described in is that grids dont reflect the natural data distribution. Density map is a good technique to visualize concentrations of events. ![]() For instance, a peculiarity can be noted in the area of Munich (marked in the figure): the number of photographers is very high from August till October, which may be related to the famous Oktoberfest (beer festival). The com- mon and distinct features of the seasonal variations in different places are easily seen. ![]() The color filling serves to improve the visibility of the diagrams and the differentiation between the positive and negative values (yellow and blue, respectively). The vertical dimension represents the de- viation from the local mean value. The horizontal axis of a diagram represents 12 months from January to De- cember. The counts resulting from the aggregation have been transformed into the differences from the local mean values normalized by the standard deviations. The diagrams represent the yearly variation of the number of photographers. Dy- namic filtering has been applied so that only the cells visited by at least 250 photographers are visi- ble. The shading of the cells portrays the total number of different people who made their photos in these cells. The map fragment shows the south of Germany. The data have been aggregated spatially by grid cells and temporally by months, irrespective of the years. Figure 1 gives an example of how aggregation results can be visualized and explored. The results of the aggregation are time series of counts related to the spatial compartments (number of photos, number of different people) and, possibly, other statistics such as the mean number of photos per person. For the temporal aggregation, the time may be treated as linear or as cyclic and, respectively, di- vided into consecutive intervals or into intervals of the daily, weekly, or yearly cycle. ![]() For the spatial aggregation, the territory is divided into suit- able compartments, for example, using a regular grid. Spatial and temporal aggregation of movement data viewed as independent events can be done by means of database queries. Aggregation helps an analyst to cope with large amounts of data. The methods we present do not take into account the contents of the photos but only their spatial and temporal references. The example dataset we use for the presentation consists of about 590 000 photos made on the territory of Germany during the period from Janutill March 30, 2009. The tasks and methods are summarized in Table 1. For the defined tasks, we aim at developing appropriate methods. We distinguish space-centered tasks, where the data are used to study the properties of the space and places, from agent-centered tasks targeting at the properties and behaviors of the people (in general, moving agents). We define possible types of analysis tasks related to the views of the data as events and as trajectories. take a systematic approach to the analysis of event-based movement data. To provide a pleasant smell, one of our favourite homemade mixtures contains baking soda, borax, cornstarch, and cornmeal, as well as cinnamon and bay leaves. You can also make your own carpet cleaning powder. These products contain chemicals that absorb odours and intensively clean carpet fibres before being readily vacuumed away after a short length of time. If renting the equipment isn't an option, there are various store-bought powder cleaners that mimic the dry cleaning process. The treated rooms are normally unavailable for 30 minutes to an hour. Dry cleaning systems are less expensive than steam cleaners, and because they use less liquid, they allow households to have a faster dry time. The technique is more commonly used in residential settings where homeowners need spot treatment, but it's also useful in situations when traffic on the carpet is difficult to control (such as at the entryway or hallway in a commercial space). Cleansers can also protect carpet fibres from future stains, similar to how a stain shield spray protects furniture. The cleaning agents are brushed or buffed into the carpet before being removed, together with all of the dirt, oils, and other sediments that loosen as the cleansers become entrenched between the fibres. Dry carpet cleaning provides deep cleaning power by supplementing with compound cleaning agents prior to machine washing to pre-treat fibres and break down contaminants. ![]() ![]() Advantages of Dry Carpet CleaningĪ dry cleaning (low-moisture) method for carpet maintenance goes above and beyond the standard vacuum cleaner routine. You can now see why they piled the units up into neat piles! They needed to distinguish one plus one or two, from one times sixty plus one meaning sixty one. So the left-hand column were units, the second, multiples of 60, the third, multiplies of 3,600, and so on. The Babylonians had the same system, but they used powers of sixty rather than ten. Then you can add each column, carrying forward to the next, if necessary. If you want to add large numbers (and you've lost your calculator!) you line the numbers up so their units are in the same column. So the right hand column is units, the next is tens, the next is hundreds, and so on. We use a positional system, and our columns represent powers of ten. Surely this is very confusing! However, the Babylonians were working their way towards a positional system (see below).Ī positional number system is one where the numbers are arranged in columns. Sixty one is sixty and one, which therefore looks like one and one, and so on. The symbol for sixty seems to be exactly the same as that for one. However, something strange happened at sixty (see below). ![]() Eleven was ten and one, twelve was ten and one and one, twenty was ten and ten, just like the Egyptians. Once they got to ten, there were too many symbols, so they turned the stylus on its side to make a different symbol. However, they tended to arrange the symbols into neat piles. Like the Egyptians, the Babylonians used two ones to represent two, three ones for three, and so on, up to nine. I am using a yellow background to represent the clay!Įnter a number from 1 to 99999 to see how the Babylonians would have written it, or enter a number to count with. This explains why the symbol for one was not just a single line, like most systems. The Babylonians writing and number system was done using a stylus which they dug into a clay tablet. Eventually it was replaced by Arabic numbers. It is quite a complicated system, but it was used by other cultures, such as the Greeks, as it had advantages over their own systems. It started about 1900 BC to 1800 BC but it was developed from a number system belonging to a much older civilisation called the Sumerians. ![]() ![]() SELECT dateAdd(startDate='$purchaseDate', unit='day', amount=3, timezone='America/New_York') as DATE_ADD,ĭateSubtract(startDate='$purchaseDate', unit='day', amount=3, timezone='America/New_York') as DATE_SUBTRACT,ĭateTrunc(date='$purchaseDate', unit='week', binSize=2, timezone='America/New_York', startOfWeek='Monday') as DATE_TRUNC,ĭateDiff(startDate='$purchaseDate', endDate='$$NOW', unit='day', timezone='America/New_York', startOfWeek='Monday') as DATE_DIFF New date operators $dateAdd, $dateSubtract, $dateTrunc, $dateDiff, all of which can be used as SQL functions createTimeSeriesCollection 1ĭb.cakeSales.aggregate().setWindowFields //then press "tab" to complete codeĭb.cakeSales.aggregate().setWindowFields(]) //test data This release added a few code templates for MongoDB 5.0.
